What is Google Earth?

Google Earth is an online application that allows you to browse satellite and aerial photography of the Earth. You can view an area simply by clicking anywhere on the globe and zooming in on that area. There are also areas of interest such major city’s that have 3D representations of the buildings. In addition to this, Google earth also has what is known as 3D helicopter view. This view is available once you have set a route for directions, the program will then follow the plotted route from a helicopter’s point of view. It can be very useful for finding out information regarding the terrain of the journey.

Pretty much every square meter of the earth has been mapped out within this Google service. It can be used to find directions from anywhere, to anywhere, travel times, distances and more. Google Earth really is a phenomenal piece of software.
