Internet Cred’ is The New Street Cred’ in SEO

Have you recently started a website and hope to see search engine optimization (SEO) results appear almost instantly? Good luck. It’s a well known fact that by owning an old website you are trusted more by search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing and others. To build up trust with search engines will take time and effort, but it should also be noted that your visitors must also trust your website.

In the real world, people have different reputations for what they do, some good and some bad, it all depends on what they have done. This is no different to websites, if they neglect the web then they will only create a bad reputation for themselves whilst if a website treats its visitors with respect then it will build up a good reputation. The better your websites reputation the better for you.

The difficulty with building up a good reputation is what can be done, one minute people may like your website and the next minute they don’t. A few things you should take note of are the following:

Online Reputation

  • By displaying your opinions on your website may lead to negative feedback due to people having different opinions on the same thing. Unless your positive it can’t be displayed in a negative light then it’s recommend you only stick to displaying facts.
  • Don’t have a website that’s too wild. Some people like a simple website design which are easy to read and navigate through. By having hundreds of images displaying on your website will only slow down the load time of your site which will lose visitors.
  • Don’t steal anyone’s published work. Not only is this illegal but if people realise that you’ve stolen someones work they will create the opinion that your website is a hoax and may lead to problems such as theft, viruses and other serious issues.

By ensuring your website can only be seen in a positive fashion your site will benefit extremely. People talk and if your website is recommended to one another eventually you will be ranking in the search results with the best of your industry. Don’t let people get a bad idea of you, you’ll only waste your time in the end.

If you have any other pointers people should follow then please leave a comment for readers to see, I’m positive there are recommendations I never imagined existed.
