SEO is Affected by Your Websites Speed

So you’ve filled your website up with large images and notice a slight decrease in your page loading, what of it? Well if your cherish your search engine optimisation for your website then I recommend you read on; Google has confirmed in a blog post that your sites speed is now going to affect your Google ranking.

This is just another step for Google into finding and ranking only the very best sites through both speed and efficiency. This could only be good news for hosting companies due to websites needing higher bandwidth to keep their site running efficiently at all times. This means only one thing, more money for them. But, money shouldn’t be an issue once a website has it’s desired ranking, it’s only a matter of time till that money seems like peanuts.

Website Speed

In Google’s blog post they recommended a few tools to help evaluate websites speed. One of their recommendations was the use of their newly released site performance tool, located in the Webmaster Tools suite, which helps assess performance statistics and make changes accordingly.

This may not be news to some as it was rumoured back in November, but now it has been confirmed you should definitely look into improving your websites performance to get the most out of your SEO campaign. The criterion isn’t weighted as heavily as other factors, but it doesn’t mean this should be ignored, your page ranking depends on it.
